Péter Baji: Big Data and the City

As a Young Research Fellow, Péter Baji focuses on the usage and analyzing methods of big data in the research of social sciences. Particularly, the research areas are urban sociology and urban geography. Within these, Baji researches the effects of postfordist/postindustrial transformation of advanced economies on cities today. The first emphasized area of his research is the rise of the new economy, also his PhD thesis, and it includes the analysis of ‘tertiarization’ of urban labour markets (and within this the creative and knowledge-intensive sectors), which has an ongoing effect on the urban socio-economic structure. Baji's second significant research area is smart city, and its domains (e. g. smart urban transportation) as an urban development paradigm, which is a highlighted area in urban research literature today.
