Research stream for network analysis

Members of the research stream for network research and big data analysis derive from the assumption that in the social sciences (and therefore in sociology) a ‘silent revolution’ is taking place today. Analyzing the dynamics, inner structures and other characteristics of social networks are among the most dynamically developing interdisciplinary research areas. The study of an increasing number of social phenomena has become possible with the development of digital technology, and the widespread availability of increasingly sophisticated data analysis and visualization tools. The primary aim of this research stream is to use theories and computational methods of network and big data analysis to observe and understand social reality in a new and innovative way.
